About the Hottest July On Record.
The U. S. thermometer has been moved from the roof in the rear of the Halleck telephone exchange to a sheltered position in the rear of Fendig’s drug store, and Mr. Fendig now attends to the instrument and makes the official temperature records. It is believed that in its present location it gives an entirely accurate measurement of the temperature. The highest it reached Wed. was 99 degrees and that is very hot weather. At 6 p. m. it was still way up, being at 93 degrees. During the first 24 days of the present month the records show that the maximum temperature was above 90 on 21 days. This we believe to be a beat record unparalleled in the remembrance of anyone.
