A Fine Church Dedicated.
The dedication of the new Catholic church at Remington was held Sunday. The services were conducted by the Right Rev. Bishop Herman J. Alerding of Fort Wayne, assisted by Very Rev. Father Augustine, of Ohio, Rev. Father Berg, of Schererville, Ind., Rev. Father Bathe, of Fort Wayne, Very Rev. Father Kruger, Logansport, Ind., Rev. Father Dickman, of Ohio, Rev. Fathers Benedict, Thomas and Florian of St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, Rev. Father Webber, Earl Park, Ind., Rev. Father Ganzer. Kentland, Ind., I Rev. Father McCabe, St. Bridget, Ind.. and Rev. Father Berg of : Remington, Indiana. On account of the excessive heat only” about 2,000 people were in j attendance. 1 . * - j The attendants were very orderly and not a single case of drunkenness or other misbehavior. The ; church people furnished the re- : freshments on the church grounds. | The church was dedicated as the j “Sacred Heart Church.” The building is 129 feet in length, 46 feet in width and 55 feet in height inside. The steeple extends to a height of 128 feet | from the ground level. The structure without the furniture cost $14,000. The furniture from ! the old church is being used until funds can be raised to furnish it new. The St. Joseph College and the Remington band's furnished 1 the music for the occasion. At the request of the local Priest, Father Berg, no intoxicatj ing liquors were sold from the back doors or otherwise.
