Density of Population.
A census map of Indiana whioh appears on the inside pages of onr to day’s semi-weekly is worthy of considerable attention. It shows in a graphic manner the distribution of population in the state, according to its density. Marion as might be expected, having the capital city and state metropolis, stands at the head of the list, with the densest population having 493 persons to the square mile. At the other end of the list, with the sparsest population for its area, is our own Jasper county; and we have only an average of 25 persons to the square mile. Newton and Benton have not much to brag over, as theirs is only 26 to the equare mile. Warren with 31, Pulaski with 32 and Starke with *34 are the three next most thinly populated counties. Little old Union county, way down by the Ohio line, has only 40 to the square mile, which seems rather strange. Other neighboring counties are Lake 75, Porter 46, La Porte 71, White 38, to the square mile.
