The Situation At Shelby.
C. B. Steward was up at Shelby Wednesday, and tried to size up the sugar factory situation. The construction company which made a start on the foundations of the factory, a month or two ago, were loading up the rest of their cement and other material, preparatory to shipping it away. The managers of the beet interests up there say that a factory will be built, all the same. There has been a falling out between the building contractors and the sugar company. It is scarcely possible, however, that a factory can now be built Jin time for this years orop. Beets up around there are promising a big crop. If no factory is b uilt this year the orop there and in this vicinty will probably be sent to some Michigan factory. Fine fresh California peaches and apricots, the first of the season at Viok’s.
