Monon May Build a Coal Road.

Tuesday’s Indianapolis Journal says: “Recent developments give evidence that the Monon company is determined to have a southwestern line out of Indianapolis, crossing the main line to Louisville and reaching into the coal fields of southwestern Indiana. The project has been talked of for some years. Even back in the days of the Carson management such a scheme was talked of, but abandoned when the hard times struck the country; but so prosperous are railroad interests at present that the Monon people are encouraged to revive the projeot. The southwestern terminal will likely be Sullivan, Ind. By building this piece of road the oompany would strike the best coal mines in Indiana, which would at once furnish a heavy coal traffic, which in addition to the stone traffic would place the Monon in a position to be one of the best money earners 6f Indiana roads.”
