Mrs, Stevens and Mrs, Cumstock, of Hersher, 111., are visiting the former’s daughter, Mrs. Harry Gifford this week. R. W. Burris and wife were called to Lebanon, Boone Co., by the serious illness of the latter’s father. T. M. Callahan and wife were at Rensselaer Sunday." • Coach No. 1, of the C. W. W. was setoff here Saturday to be painted inside and out and otherwise repaired, Germain & O’Meara have the job. Wm. Brady has moved to Chicago Heights where he will work at the carpenter trade. John W. Baker is visiting friends at Pleasant Lake, Ind., this week. W. W. Jordan was called to Gibson City, 111., Saturday by the death of his father. His daughter, Miss Nettie, accompanied him, Ivor McCormick was at Rensselaer Saturday. James Anderson had the misfortune to fall off a moving hand car Thursday night and broke his collar bone in two places. Quite a number from here took in the excursion to Chicago Sunday.
County Normal.
The Jasper County Normal will be held in the Rensselaer high school building. The term will begin July 29th, 1901 and continue five weeks. A review will be given in each of the common school branches. Classes will be organized in other subjects if a sufficient number desire. Arrangements have also been made to have a competent teacher in drawing should those in attendance elect it. .Enrollment fee $4.50 Instructors, W. R. Murphey, Supt. Remington Schools. W. 0.
