Edward W. Bender and wife, of San Francisco, Cal., who for the past ten days have been guests of her aunt, Mrs. W. F. Powers, of this place, left this morning on their homeward trip. Mrs. Bender, was the California state delegate to the National meeting of the Royal Neighbors at Springfield, Ohio. On their way home they will stop off for short visits at Denver, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah. A large and elegantly attired 'company met at the beautiful home of Mrs. J. T. Randle, on Cullen St., yesterday, at 2 p. m. in response to invitations sent out by Mrs. Randle, Mrs, B. Forsythe and Mrs. D. A. Stoner. Everything worked together to make the afternoofi very enjoyable, blossoms and plants abounded, music filled in all the spaces that conversation left, and refreshments were elaborate. Mrs. Iva Robinsbn and Miss Floy Nowels each gave interesting and pleasing readings. John R. Bierma a flourishing young attorney of the Chicago bar and his newly acquired wife, formerly Ida Roth have come to spend a few days with Win. H. Parkison. Mr. Bierma was a member of the first 111. regiment subsequently in the engineer corps of the U. S. army during the late unpleasantness with Spain and in the same regiment with Dr. Ira Washburn. He was married on the 25th of this month at the home of the bride’s parents in Chicago. The wedding was a very large one and Bierma and his newly married bride were glad to escape from rice and old shoes and retreat into the Bwamps and wilds of Jasper. His wife is from one of the best families of Chicago and her father is connected with the Pullman Company of that city. He is a nephew of Cornelius Bierma, ex-trustee of Keened Tp.
