Those Angora Goats.
The car load of 120 Angora goats were taken out' to the Halstead farms in Newton tp., Friday afternoon. The special purpose had in view in purchasing these goats was their supposed great efficiency in clearing land of brush. There are large tracts of hazel brush especially, on the Halstead land and it is believed that the Angoras will kill this out and clear the land, It is claimed that so long as they can find leaves of brush to eat they will not touch grass. They also are great for eating weeds and docks and are not even backward in taking hold of thistles. They are sheared once a year and their fleece is worth 85 cents per pound. Their meat is like mutton only said to be better, and when sold at the stock yards they are listed as sheep. But they bob up as deers when you call for venison at the city restaurants. These Angoras are not full blood and the price paid was $4 per head, delivered here. They were bought at Kansas City.
