Seriously Bitten By a Dog.

William Obenchain, of Barkley township, was in town this morning to have Dr. I. B. Washburn dress two severe dog bite wounds on his face. Obenchain is a married man and lives about 12 miles north of town. Early this morning Charles Schroyer, a neighbon of his, discovered a wolf in his barn yard chasing the chickens. He sent for Obenchain and other neighbors and prepared for a wolf chase. The wolf was very tame and would come within a few feet of the men. Finally they set two dogs after the wolf and the men set out in pursuit. The wolf started to run around the Independent school house near there, and Obenchain ran around the other way to head it off. Just as he emerged from the other side of the building, he was partially obscured by a clump of bushes from the dogs, and one of them, a small shepherd, supposing that it was the wolf sprung at him and planted his sharp teeth into his face, first in the left cheek and then in the right eye. The first wound was the most serious, one tooth having passed entirely through the cheek. The dog soon recognized its mistake and skulked away. The other men continued the wolf chase and Obenchain came to town for medicil aid. His injuries are not deemed serious although very painful.
