They Marched.
The officers of the ’Steenth Hussars, according to the hoary tale, were graciously pleased to accept the invitation of a witty Irish hostess to a dance. »They attended, but played the part of passive spectators, until their hospitable hostess came to their assistance and offered to find them partners. In response to her endeavors, the senior officers present thanked her, but explained that “the 'Steenth don’t dance.” “Don’t they?” returned the lady; “then I sincerely hope they can march.” Which they did.
