FOE AN ELECTION TO AID THE NEW FAST ANl> west kaileoad . v *-. The movement towards e6etinu£ that great and long felt want, a£ east and west trunk line railroad, is making fine progress. R. A. Hamilton, the ohief engineer of the Chicago & Toledo Transfer Railroad Co., was in town on Monday morning, with its attorney, Mr. Annabal.of Indianapolis, and in consultation with our railroad committee, and Foltz, Spitler & Kurrie, attorneys, a petition for an eleotion in Marion tp. was drawh up. For a subsidy of 1 per cent, the railroad company agrees to build a standprd guage steam railroad through Marion tp., and Rensselaer and to locate a depot within § mile of the court house, and inside the corporation. Also to provide all necessary shipping tracks, team traoks, etc. The company must also furnish their own right of way. The road is to be completed through the township by Nov* Ist, 1903. The petition is already being circulated and generally signed.
