75,000 Cases of Grip
A statement prepared by Dr. Hurty, of the state board of health today, shows there were 75,000 cases of grip in Indiana this winter. Of the number of cases, 785 deaths resulted. These were distributed as follows: November 14; December, 20; January, 228; February, 324, and March 174. Many cases diagnosed as grip were not grip, Dr. Hurty says, but only bad colds. He will advise in the bulletin that patients affected with real grip be isolated, as grip is infections; that thorough sanitary regulations be observed, and that rooms in which grip patients have been confined be disinfected before other persons are permitted to occupy them. He issues advice to hotel keepers in this regardMany grip cases are reported as having originated from sleeping car berths.
