Likes Being in the Navy.

Marion Gwin, sen of Mrs. Elizabeth Gwin, southeast of town, who went to join the navy last November, is now on the gunboat Hartford, and probably on a voyage to Europe. His first assignment was on the Lancaster, upon which he has made a voyage to South America and back. He appears to like sailoring and to be making good progress. He was shipped in the capacity of a “landsman” but now, as we understand has been promoted to the capacity of common seaman, or soon is to be. W. H. Beacham’s son, who went in the same party, is now in a different vessel, and we are not informed as to his present w hereabouts.
