The City Council.

Several property owners protested against the new cement sidewalk on Oak street, ordered at the last meeting, and asked that the order be resoinded. Referred to committee on sidewalks for investigation. G. A. Strickfaden asked for a reduction on his electric light rate for his bowling alleys, which do not pay expenses through the summer months. The rate is sl4 per month, and it is understood he contemplates changing to some other form of lighting if the reduction is not made. The treasurer filed his report for March, which was refered to finance committee. The fire chief was directed to open up all the fire hydrants to see that they are in good working order. All the 15 members of the fire company were present at the Kessinger fire and were allowed $2.50 eaoh for attending it. Some 88 claims were considered and allowed.
