A Horse Thief Detective Association.

Since the latest raid of hoist* „ stealers in this vicinity, that at George Ketcham's last week, there has been considerable talk of organizing a Horse Thief Detective Association in this county. There is a law in this state providing for and regulating such institutions, and in the many places where they 1 have been organized they have been very beneficial. They provide for the pnrsuit and capture of the thieves, and recovering the property, the association paying aewards in both cases. ; They also provide for paying the owners of the stolen horses for their value, when .they are not recovered It is . claimed, and no doubt truly, that one of best results of these associations in a community is to scare away intended horse thieves? so that not ; nearly so many horses are stolen in communities, where they are in operation. It is probable that a notice fora meeting to organize an association will soon be issued.
