Explicit Directions.
Two bicyclists, reaching a strang* Long Island town, decided to take the train home. They stopped, says the New York Sun, to ask a colored woman the way to the railroad station. “We are strangers,” they said. “Will you kindly direct us to the station?” “Certainly, sub,” she replied. “Keep agoin’ right on till yo’ comes to de corner wha de ole postofflee used ty be, den tu’n to yo’ lef an’ yo’ll go right to de station.” As they rode off she beamed with pride, they with amusement; and although they found the station they have yet to discover the “corner wha de ole post-office used ter be.”
