The ct.se of W. Walker official s‘enographer for this judical circuit, was tried at Montioello, Monday, before Judge Palmar. Mr. Walker bad a oertaiu bill fqr services as stenographer in the Newton circuit c-mrt for $35. The county cpunoil had appropriated only $25. The court gave him a warrant for $35 and he received the $25. and the county council refused to appropriate enough to pay the balance. They were advised to that course by certain parties at Keutlaud wluse arms are always in the public crib up to the shoulder, and who had a oandidare of their own for court reporter. Judge Palmer decided at once in Mr. Walker’s favor, and the Newton county council will now have to appropriate not only the $lO due Mr. Walker but about SSO or S6O more on top of that to pay lawyers and court costs. Mr. Walker has several similar claims against Newton county, but it is n„t likely he will be obliged to sue again for what is due him.
