Looks Like Business.
Asa A. Brown, formerly of Kniman, now one of B. J. Gifford’s superintendents, at Gifford, was in town Wednesday. He reports that railroad ties by the thousand are being delivered along the routes of Gifford’s proposed new railroad extensions, The route into the oil field being nearer the most timber is receiving more than the Rensselaer line; but the latter is getting them in immense numbers. All along the line, clear down to Doc Nichols place the ties are being piled up. Mr. Gifford expects to receive at least 100,000 ties, by spring. The town of Gifford, the future center of the Gifford system, is already getting its boom. Two new residences are under way, also one new store building and a large addition to the one already there, now owned by Clifton & Odom. The new one is by Mr. Reed, of Medaryville. John Kimble, who recently sold bis store to Clifton & Odom is also getting material on the ground for a drug store.
