Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 22, Number 37, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 25 January 1901 — Village of Epileptics. [ARTICLE]

Village of Epileptics.

Mr. Rogers, of Decatur, introduced a bill in the house Monday, providing for the establishment by State of a village for epileptics. Unlike other bills of this character, which were introduced at this session, Mr. Roger’s measure does not stipulate the location of the village in any particular county. The bill provides for the apportionment by the Governor of a commission of four men who shall make the necessary investigation and select a location for the village. Not less than 1,000 acres is to be purchased for the village, and $40,000 is appropriated by the bill to pay for this land. The bill goes into all the details for the organization and management of the village, and Mr. Rogers asserts that it is the only bill of this nature that is worthy the serious consideration of the Legislature.
