The State Legislature Convenes.

The Indiana State Legislature of 1901 held its first sessions Thursday. The following officers were elected, having beon chosen at the Republican caucus, the evening before. HOUSE O7FICERS. Speaker—Samuel R. Artman, of Lebanon. It Chief Clerk —William Essmann, of Indianapolis. Assistant Clerk —D. B. J, Schafer, of South Bend. Chief Doorkeeper—W. T. Murray. of Connersville. Caucus Chairman John A, Bonham, of Hartford City. SENATE OFFICERS. President Pro Tem —Senator William R. Wood, of Lafayette. Caucus Senate f Frederick A. Joss, of Indianapolis, Principal Secretary —W. W. Huffman, of Anderson. Assistant Secretary Harmon L. Hotson, of uAngola. Doorkeeper—Clemmer Pelzer, of Evansville. James F. Stuteeman, who seemed at one time to have a (sure cinch on the speakership of the House, found finally that he bad no show and withdrew before the caucus met.
