Gifford Wants 60,000 Ties.
Uncle Ben Gifford, is evidently preparing to rush his railroad work "ith an extra rush, when the seasou opens, next spring. He ia advertising for 60,000 tiee. Her is especially anxious that his tenants find and work up into ties every tree on his farms suitable for the purpose. He pays 13 cents each for making ties ou his land, and 3 cents each for hauling; with an additional price for ties of more than 6 inch faces, and also something extra for hauling when distance is over one mile, depending upon the distance. Far ties-made on —land not be* - longing to him the price offered is 22 cents for jack oak ties, and 25 cents for white oak. For ties of more than 6 inch face the additional price is 1 cent for each such inch, above 6. Deliveries may be made on any portion of the completed road, also along the line of the Oil Field Branch, the Rensselaer Line, aud the northern extension.
