Monticello’s Suppressed Sensation.
Brookston Gazette. Several weeks ago Mrs. John Murray, wife of the Monon agent at Monticello, left her home, her husband and five young children and her leaving was simultaneous with the departure of a swift young man by the name of Earl Johnsonbaugh. According to rumors the couple had been holding clandestine meetings for several months and the proof of their going away together was substantiated by many evidences. Mrs. Murray is said to have taken away about $250 that herself and husband had saved up, and Johnsonbaugh is supposed to have had close to SI,OOO. The elopement was never mentioned in any of the Monticello papers but it is now a public matter. They were seen | together by a Monticello lady on I the streets, of Lincoln, Nebraska, about two weeks ago. E. church will give their annual big dinner and* supper, next Saturday, in Liberal Corner; and also conduot an apron and handkerchief sale. Theproceeds of the enterprise are to go to the parsonage building fund.
