Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 22, Number 24, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 December 1900 — State Bar’s Suit. [ARTICLE]
State Bar’s Suit.
It is understood that the State Bar Association will bring a. suit soon in the hope of getting a decision from the supreme court to the effect that the constitutional amendments voted on at the recent election have carried, notwithstanding the decision of Gov. Mount. This report was practically corroborated by Merrill Moores, secretary of the State Bar Association. We believe the suit will win and the amendments be declared adopted. \\ e are sure they will if they are decided on the grounds of common sense and universal usage, in elections. But if the Supreme Court follows the precedent of a fbrmer political decision of the same body, in 1880, when jthe state was democratic, the amendments will be lost.
