The second case of August Hoops, for illegal sale of liquor, resulted in a disagreement by the jury- , In the other case, in which he was fouud guilty and fined $lO, he has taken an appeal to the appellate court. M. F. Chilcote tried this case, as special judge. Herbert Barney, the olub-footed gentleman who got away with Joe Deverean’s buggy and gun, while himself and the whole posh were on a big drunk, on liquor Devereaux furnished, was sent to jail for 10 days. The gravel road case of Gifford, et al vs Baker et al, was tried?|M jury. B. J. Gifford, R. B. Hanrfii and others remonstrated "rnfnflfl the proposed gravel road in Gillum Tp., leading into FrancesriliM They claimed that the benefit* their property would derive froo|| a gravel road leading in that direction would not equal their assessments for the construction of the same. The jury took the other view, and decided in favor of the construction of the road.
