The County Commissioners.
All Election Bills Cut. C. A. Gundy of Fair Oaks was granted a saloon license. Charles Vanarsdal had published notice of intention to apply for a saloon license for Gifford station in Barkley tp. A remonstranoe signed by 190 voters of the township was filed and bis application was rejected, and Vanarsdal was declared disqualified for applying again for a license in the county, for two years. Vandnrsdal made no appearance; further than his notice in a newspaper. The bills for election officers were considered and acted upon. The County Council had expressly appropriated only enough for two days’ pav for all election inspectors, judges, clerks and sheriffs. And the commissioners allowed them only what the Council had appropriated. The claims of every election officer, except those inMilroy tp. and Frank Welch, the inspactor, in Jordan were correspondingly cut. Mr. Welsh was a member of the Counoil which made the appropriation, and even he was cut ou a bill for meals. All meal bills for election officers were also cut to 17 oents per meal, which cut also was made in conformity with the appropriation of the Council. The amount allowed to Editor Babcock, for printing ballots, was also in conformity with the Council’s previous appropriation.
