George Meckling expects tp. move to Walkerton about Dec. Ist., where he will make his future home. Clarence Nichols is visiting friends around Comer this week. Al Hann returned from Warren County Saturday where he had been on a business trip. Germane & O’Meara will do painting at Kersey this week. The coach on the C. & W. A. caught fire Friday, but was extinguished before much damage was done. Only burning one hole in the roof. James Walters of Pleasant Grove, was in this vicinitv on Saturday. * Only one and one half mile of track to lay till we will be connected with the Monon at McCoysburg. Teams will begin work on the line to Rensselaer this week. —, ...x —rf —• • - x— — ' ■ The C. & W. V. have purchased a new engine and will put on two trains in the near future. Warren Wilson and family visited at Herman Ahlers Sunday.
FAIR OAKS.
Cecil Alter, of Parr, was in town Sunday. Grant Harmon is preparing to remove his family to Riverside, Cali., some time next month. Zern Wright aud Frank Kelley of Rensselaer, were the guests of friends in town Sunday. . A number of people are spending Thanksgiving with friends and relatives out of town. Mrs. Cottingham spent several days this week at Reynolds. Milton and Orth Graves of Morocco came over to attend the box social Saturday evening, and remained over Sunday the guests of friends. Jack Kight has purchased a fine new driving horse from a party in Chicago.
Mrs. J. C. McColly of Rensselaer spent a few days this week with her parents, Wm. Cox and wife. Miss Bessie Benjamin of Rensselaer was the guest of friends in town Saturday evening and also attended the box social. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Burroughs left Wednesday of last week for their future home at Moore’s Hill, Ind. The ladies of the M. E. church will serve oysters at the Kessler building Thanksgiving night. Everybody invited. Jesse Fry the Monon station agent at Rose Lawn, still remains quite sick with a stomach trouble, His mother, Mrs. Thos. Fry, of this place was at bis bedside last Saturday and Sunday and reports him as some better. Chas. Pfrimmer spent Saturday and Sunday in Chicago. He is teaching the Odel school in Newton county, five miles west of here. In spite of the inclemency of the weather the box supper and entertainment at the school house last Saturday evening was a success in every way. Miss Nora Gilmore was voted the most popular young lady present and received the prize, a handsome rose bowl. The net proceeds were about sl7 to be used for purchasing an organ for the schools. John Liggett had the misfortune to lose one of his valuable hunting dogs Thursday of last week. He was walking southward along the Monon track about a mile south of town and did not hear the 1:31 p. m. fast mail south approaching him until it got close onto him. In trying to rescue the dog from being killed but in vain, John had a narrow escape'himself from being struck. He valued the dog at SSO.

Library Entertainment.
