The City Council.
J. W. Paxton, as guardian of Charles B. Nelson, a minor, asks that the municipal taxes assessed and collected on the property of his ward for the years 1894 to 1899, inclusive, amounting to $107.70 be remitted. It is held that municipal taxes can not lawfully he collected on the property of a non-resident minor. Referred to a committee on finance for investigation. The Ladies’ Literary Club urge that immediate action be taken towards purchasing the old Gen. Milroy homestead, for park and memorial purpoees. The amount subscribed through the efforts of the Club i 5.5640.. The city engineer reported the completion of the Cullen street improvement, from Washington to Cornelia street The time set for hearing objections of property owners to assessments is Nov. 28th. The contractors on the Cullen and Forest streets improvement were authorized to close the two streets from Cornelia to Oak, until the work is finished. Marshal Simpson filed a report showing that he had had the willows and other obstructions removed from tffe river, along the properties of R. B. Harris, T. H. Robinson, H. J. Dexter and Wm. Washburn with the cost of the same to be taxed against the property. Claims were allowed to the amount of $550.50.
