FAIR OAKS.
Now . that the election is over, prepare for Thankgiving. J. H, Chapman and Dr. Kajinal, of Rensselaer were in town Monday evening on business. Mrs. John Mundon and daughter of Momence, 111. are visiting Mr and Mrs. Gus Mundon. George Davidson has built an addition to and made other extensive repairs to his house and moved into it lasfcweek. Miss Ophelia McClannahan has returned to Fair Oaks and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gundy. Don’t forget the temperance meeting at the Christian church next Sunday evening. Everybody invited. . Several of the boys from here attended the jollification at Rensselaer last Saturday night and report a good time. The quail law run out of the 10th of this month and the hunters are quite numerous, likewise the quail A numher of young people gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs Winslow last Tuesday evening, and a social time was spent at games, music and refreshments until a late hour, A number of young couples enjoyed a pleasant dance at Kessler’s Hall last Saturday night. A box supper and entertainment will be given at the school house on Saturday evening, Nov. 24th. A prize will be given to the most popular young lady present. Proceeds to go towards purchasing an organ for our schools. Everybody invited to come and have a good time. Don’t forget the date. CJ
The marriage of Mr. Calvin Burroughs of Moore’s Hill, Ind. to Miss Mary Arnold, daughter of Mrs. John Casey, took place at the home of the bride’s parents, last Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, by Rev. Brady of Rensselaer. The affair was rather private, only a few friends besides the relatives of the bride being present. The groom is well known to our people, he having formerly resided here. The bride is one of our most popular young ladies. Mr, and Mrs. Burroughs will soon leave for Moore’s Hill, where they will go to housekeeping and reside in the future.
