The Scourge of the Locust.

OJ the 53,000,000 square miles which, the world’s land surface comprises, 40,00QD00 are more or less continuously subject to the scourge of the hungry loejst. It causes, we are told, more pecuniary loss and misery than a nm ttvp war, or a series of native wars combined; or, for that matter, a greater loss than war between Eugland and the Squth African republics. Thus the question of fighting the locust is one of the gravest importance. London Chronicle. •
