A Great Man For One Day.
Ex-president Cleveland who has "been cursed und belittled by the Bryanites ever since be began to denounce Bryanism four years ago aDd not less vigorously denounces now, was* a great and wise man again in the opinion of the Democrats for just one day, this week, and tliat day was Tuesday. On that morning was published all over the oountry an alleged interview held with Mr. Cleveland in which he was made to express the opinion that the election this year would be a Bryan land-slide, that the U nion labor men, the traveling amen, the Hollanders and pretty nearly everybody else was going to v6te for him, and a whole lot more JT>t of that kind. The alleged interview was directly opposite to «t^rything Cleveland has been saying of late years, and was an evident fake on its face. Still all the Democrats and some Republicans believed it, and it was wonderful how Cleveland stock went up jn Democratic estimation. But now he has pronounced the interview “an unmitigated falsehood from start to finish,” and poor Grover is getting cussed by the Demies worse than ever.
