In June, 1893, tlie bank cleanups of 55 of the principal cities of the United States aggregated $3,570,315,339. a decrease of 21 per cent from June, 1892. In June, 1599, the bank clearings of the country showed an increase of 21 per cent over June, 1898, and for this June of the year “of the proudest ora of the republic” the vast aggregate of the bank clearings of the United States was $6,621,008,707.
