Death of Crittenden A. Cox
Crittenden A. Cox, foreman of the box section department at the Chicago post office, was stricken with paralysis Friday afternoon, while at his work. He was taken to the Provident hospital, where he died. Mr. Cox lived at No. 3820 Forest avenue. He was 50 years old and was a soldier during the civil war, serving with a Kentucky regiment. In 1884 he was an unsuccessful candidate for state auditor for Indiana on the Republican ticket Previous to that time he was a well'known and very popular conductor on the Monon Route. His wife is a daughter of Mrs. D. T. Halstead, of our city, by a former marriage, and she was here visiting her mother when the sad news of her husband’s sudden death occured. She left for the city on the 9:55 a. m. train Saturday. The sad and sudden news of her husband’s death was a terrible shock, and as her own health is delicate, her relatives here fear it may be disastrous to her.
