Oil in Northeast Jasper.
Trustee J. C. Kaupke, of Kankakee tp. when in town a day or two ago. reported that he was all ready to begin drilling for oil on bis land in that township. Regarding the well on the farm adjoining, struck several weeks ago, the North Judson News has the following: “The oil well on the Rogers farm, southwest of San Pierre, has never stopped flowing the pure are article of lubricating oil since the vein was, struck two weeks ago. Most of the time there has been no gush about it —the oil simply comes to the top and rolls steadily out of the end of the pipe. Last Thursday forenoon however, the thing had a fit. An extra force of gas created a terrible roar and caused the oil to flow several feet above the pipe. The supply of barrels and tanks was soon exausted and men were dispatched to Dunnvilie and San Pierre for more barrels. Toward evening the flow fell to its normal condition and there has been no occurenoe out of the ordinary since then. . The Indianapolis Journal for 10 cents per week, daily. Vice’s News Stand.
