The World's Oldest Obelisk.
The oldest obelisk in the world is that found by Lepsius, in 1843, in a tomb near the pyramids of Gizeh and now preserved in the royal museum at Berlin. Besides being the’oldest it is the smallest of existing obelisks, being only two feet one and a half Inches high. It has been classed among the monuments of the fourth and fifth dynasties, about 4000 B. C„ and Its form is that of the earliest representations of an obelisk on Scarabei.
