Mike Shehan of Chicago, was the guest of friends and relatives in town over Sunday. M. E. Harness was on the sick list a few days last week and unable to be on duty at the store. Mrs. P. W. Nelson and children returned home last week after a seven weeks’ visit with friendtjmd relatives at Cleveland and other points in Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Winslow and children are visiting friends and relatives at Yeddo and other places in Fountain county. Mrs. Ella Raynor and children have returned to their home at Princeton, Ills., after an extended visit to her mother, Mrs. Lambert and other relatives: An excursion tiain of IB well filled coaches from Brazil to Michigan City passed through this place over the C. & E. I. Ry, Thursday morning of last week. Dave Winslow, the C. & E. 1 section foreman, is taking his regular two weeks summer vacation. Ed. Dennison, of Kniman, is filling his place. Mrs. Katie Dexter returned to her home at Goodland Monday after a few days visit to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hurley. Mrs. Bringle and daughter Katie of near Rensselaer, spent Saturday and Sunday with her son Abe Bringle and family. Mr. and Mrs. Davisson and Mr. and Mrs. Kight are sojourning in Northern Michigan this week. The two-months old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fenters died early Wednesday morning of last week. The funeral was held Thursday morning at the house, by Rev. Abbett. Interment in Fair Oaks Cemetery. The box supper and ice cream social given by the ladies of the M. E. church last Saturday evening was well attended and a success in every way. Receipts $18.25
Dr. Proudly has concluded to remain here and will open an office in Dr. LeesonVbuilding two doors east of the postoffice which is being refitted for the purpose. He will remove his family here from Chicago as soon as he is able to secure a vacant house. Mr. and Mrs. Littener, of Monticello, visited their daughters Mrs. Kessler and Mrs. Wilson and other relatives from Friday till Monday. Willie Cottingham met with quite a painful accident on Wednesday morning of last week. While at play with two of his companions he stepped on a rusty nail in a board, penetrating the ball of his left foot qhite badly. Dr. Hagen, of Monon dressed the wound and the boy is getting along as well as could be expected.
