FAIR OAKS.

Dave Winslow was at the county seat Monday on business. Isaac Kight was in Chicago Monday. The heavy rain early last Sunday morning was a welcome visitor Tom Mallett and Peter Zea were at the county seat Saturday. P. W. Nelson has moved into the house just vacated by Isaac Kight. W. L. Bratton, the Monon section foreman, spent Sunday with his family at Indianapolis, Tom Mallett has made an improvement to his store building in the way of a front porch. Several from here attended the Bryan notification at Indianapolis. Harry and Allen Gaplt have gone to Milan Ind„ for a several weeks’ visit to their parents and friends. - Miss Mae Erwin has returned home from a three weeks’ visit with friends and relatives at Brook and Goodland. Dr. Proudley, of Chicago, has been here the past week circulating among his friends.

Don’t forget the box supper and ice cream social at the school house next Saturday evening, Aug, 18th Everybody invited. About all of the “Old Boys” from this place will attend the Grand Army encampment at Chicago. The regular monthly temperance meeting will be held next Sunday evening'. Everybody invited to attend. We were in error last week in stating that the drug store had been sold to N, W. Slusher, of Rose Lawn. J. W. Crooks is still owner and M. E. Harness in charge.
