Gillam Gravel Road Ordered.

The county commissioners finished their hearing of thp Gillam tp., gravel road case at a night session, Monday evening. Messrs. Gifford, Randle and Harris, the remonstrators, based their objections on the plea that the road would not be of public utility. Also that the benefits would not exceed the assessments. Messrs. Randle and Harris also urged the special objection that their lands were assessed too high in proportion to the lands of Burgett, Tillett, Baker Hazen and Brown. The commissioners over-ruled all these objections and ordered the road built exactly as per the viewers’ report. The next step will be the appointment of a superintendent, who will advertise the road and have it constructed. The superintendent will be appointed at a subsequent meeting. The remonstrants have a right of appeal to the circuit court, and one of them, Mr. Gifford, has announced his intention so *to do. The proceedings in this road are under the gravel road law of 1885, which has rever been followed in any former road in this county.
