Boring For Oil in Kankakee.
North .ludson Xnws. Oil business is catching its second wind in the neighborhood west of San Pierre. John Kaupka trustee of Kankakee, township, Jasper county, and Mr. Rogers, who owns land west of the Adam Schmidt farm, just over the line in that county, have purchased a mammoth, complete drilling outfit from a firm in lowa, and are preparing to find oil if it exists anywhere within the bowels of the earth thereabout. The first well will be located on Mr. Rogers’ laud and will be drilled to a depth of 1,000 feet or over, unless oil or gas is found sooner. Messrs Kaupka & Rogers have plenty of capital and meau business.
