The City Council.
The Street Improvement Ordinances Passed. All members present but Porter, who is journeying in the west. About 12 interested property owners petitioned to have the proposed street improvement, from Cornelia to Oak, cut to 20 feet wide, without curb. A motion to grant the petition was lost, by 2 votes fur to 3 against Lewis Sayler and others remonstrated against the cement sidewalk on east Rutsen street. Referred to committee. Frank Foltz, Mary Foltz and S. P. Thompson deeded the city a five foot strip in front of their residences, to widen Work street, by that much. E, G. Warren was accepted as a member of the fire dep art' men —.— • - Ordinances to improve Cullen and Forest streets were adopted, under suspension of the rules. The improvement on Cullen, on the Ist block north of Washington, is to be the full width of the. street with cement curb. The rest of Cullen north, and Forest to Oak, is to be 30 feet wide, with oak curb. The macadam is all to be 9 inches in the center and 7 at the sides. Some 31 claims were allowe amounting to $1726.94 • One of the bills was for $1097.75, semiannual interest on water- bonds; and $249.60 was a coal bill.
