Bad Man in Jail.

‘ Jim Swisher, who poses as a ; professional bad man from up the I creek, was brought down from Wheatfield, late Tuesday afternoon, by Marshal W. V. Brown and Constable Wm. McNeil He is held on surety-of-the-peace proceedings. The proceedings were begun the 7th of last April, on affidavit of Marion M. Ocker. a-! station agent, at Wheatfield, who swore- that Swisher had made many threats against'him. Swisher was taken before Squire Van Doozer, of Wheatfield, on April 7th but was too drunk for trial. He was put in the calaboose until the 10th, to sober up, but on the morning of the 9th broke out, and was not re-arrested until July 21st.- He took a change of venue and his case was sent to Squire Burnham, at Rensselaer, and his trial set for July 26tli, at 2 p. m. Seven witnesses are summoned, on each side. , Swisher is always in trouble of some kind, and about three years ago got to shooting at the electric lights, in the brick livery barn, in Rensselaer, and was jailed here for quite a long time.
