The tree Was struck by lightning and Mr. Anderson w-as instantly killed. Search for him was made all night. The body was found in the hollow tree at 7 o’clock next morning. Mr. Anderson was elected sheriff of Starke countv in-lßfffi. fi.d served -™—— as postmaster of Kno.x f ir len years prior to 1884. Right Ground For Sugar Beets Speaking of sugar beet raising in Starke county, the North Judson News among other things says: One question, however, is settled in the mind of the company to its entire satisfaction —the Kankakee valley is all right for sugar beet culture; the crop can be grown profitably, and no mistake. The Kalamazoo company is very well pleased with the situation, and yvill be in the territory early soliciting acreage for next. year. It is altogether probable that instead of shipping the beets direct to the factory next year, one or two “juice mills” will be established in the territory to convert the beets into syrup, and that transported to Kalamazoo to be made into sugar. This much freight would be saved and all the pulp left here.
