The New Fire Alai m System.

The new fire alarm system is now fully installed and ready for use whenever the next fire occurs. Every fire hydrant in town is numbered. beginningZjWith one, and numbering consecutively, omitting the numbers which end in naught (0.) In ringing up central to give notice of a tire give the number of the hydrant, nearest the fire. The waterworks will sound the regular fire alarm, and then indicate by blasts, the scene of the fire. Thus at the corner of Washington and Weston streets, near The Republican office, the hydrant is number 46. If a fire is discovered in the- neighborhood, the fire whistle will sound the general alarm then after a short pause it will give four 'short blasts, then a pause, then six more short blasts, the two sets of 4 and 6 short blasts making 46. The following are the number and locations of the hydrants. 1 West end of McCoy Avenue. 2 McCoy Avenue, between residences of C. W. Coen and T. J. McCoy. 3 McCoy Avenue, opposite residence of.H. B. Murray. 4 McCoy Avenue and Milroy
