Obituary.
Nancy Jane Barkley Shaw was born on a farm near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, June 25th, 1827. When she was about 10 years of age in company with her parents, Henry Barkley and. Zilpah Moore Barkley, she came to Jasper Co. and settled in what is now Barkley township. In 1875 she married William Shaw who died in 1887. Their marriage resulted in no issue After the death of Mr. Shaw she removed to Rensselaer which-be-came her abode until death called her to her heavenly home?? To all her friends and the community. Mrs- Shaw, was known as “Aunt Jane.” A well deserved and honorable title. Aunt Jane's hospitable, gentle, generous nature left-a deep and happy ini-' pression upon the mind and heart of all with whom she cam in contact. About 9. years ago she became a member of the Presbyterian-church of Rensselaer and proved bj her life and faithfulness in noble chrintian wore .ip, a.nd works that she was one of God’s chosen servants. She was always ready to witness for her Lord and Master by generous gilts of money, and work. —~ Her last. yeai4?_were spent in loneliness >nd affliction,- yet she bore it patiently believing that her Lord who suffered and died for her would surly reward her faith, patience and hope. Shfe died Wednesday May 2nd, 1900, aged 72 years, 10 months and 7 days.
