Obituary.
Martha Isabelle McCurtain was born in Barkley Tp„ near the site of her late residence, July Ist. 1844. On March 14th, 1868 she was married to S. R. Nichols. As a result of this union six children were born two boys and four girls, all of whom survive the mother, except one girl wfao died in infancy. i For a year and a half she suffered intensely from a cancerous growth which finally resulted in her death. She bore up under the suffering without a murmur, and showed remarkable courage and patience until the last, even when the suffering was greatest. In speaking of the future, she expressed her readiness to meet death, but regretted to leave her family. At six o’clock on the morning of April 26th 1900, she passed away with all her family at her bedside. Her age was 55 years, 7 months, and 23 days. The funeral was held •at the residence on Friday, April 27, at 9 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. H. S. Kester pastor of the Barkley M. E. church. Interment was at Weston cemetery, Rensselaer. The attendance both at the residence and at the cemetery was very large.
