Many Millions of Peanuts.
The people of the United States consume 4,000,000 bushels of peanuts annually, at a cost of about $10,000,000. The growing of the peanut in thia country Is gradually increasing, but much of the product consumed is still brought from abroad, notably from Spain, Egypt and Japan. Yet the South Atlantic seaboard and the lower Mississippi valley, as well as other parts of! the United States, have been shown to 1 be abundantly responsive to the cultivation of this ground nut, the average yield being about sixty bushels per acre.
