The Democratic Convention
The Democrats held their convention to nominate their city ticket, Monday evening, in the court house. There was a pretty large attendance, but judging from the number of votes cast, there were many more spectators than voters present. Lucius Strong was chairman of the meeting and W. J. Imes secretary, F. E. Babcock, assistant. The principal interest centered in the nomination of a candidate for Mayor, the city having been thoroughly canvassed in the interests of both candidates namely E. P. Honan and John Eger. J. 0. Chilcote presented Mr. Eger’s name and James Maloy, Mr. Honan’s. The single ballot that was taken resulted in Mr. Fger’s nomination, he receiving 82 votes to Mr. Honan 34. For city clerk blarl Mann was nominated by acclamation. For city treasurer Jerry Healy and J. J. Eiglesbach were the candidates. Mr. Healy was nominated, receiving 82 votes and Eiglesbach 29. For Marshal, Abe Simpson was chosen. The ballot was 78 for “Shorty” and 36 for John Mosmiller. For councilmen in the Ist. ward, Joe Sharp and Mose Tuteur were ! nominated by acclamation In the 2nd ward, Francis M. Parker, by acclamation. In the 3rd. ward, John 0. Chilcote received the unanimous vote. There were three_other candidates, of whom C. E. Hershman was nominated. He received f 4 votes, Bruce White 13 and J. A. McFarland 11.
