Remington Press. The Republican Senatorial convention at Goodland last Tuesday accomplished one thing. It furnished the opportunity for J. B. Lyons of Brook to place his name at the top of the page as the most shining example of all the horde of incompetent chairmen that even attempte d to till a presiding officer’s chair. Aside from this but little was accomplished as the nomination of E. H. Wolcott over W. H. Coover by the slim margin of three tenths of a vote, is alleged 10 have been accomplished by fraud, and a contest seems inevitable. Mr. Wolcott is a man in whom we’ ‘have unbounded confidence and ! we are loth to believe that he was cognizant of any intention to carry the convention by any but | fair and honorab'e means. And if gny skulduggery was indulged in it Was certainly without his knowledge or consent and while we depreciate the ungentlemanly conduct of certain delegates, we see no possible good that can come from internal dissentions, and in the interests of harmony we council moderation, and in charity and truth be it said in the language of John P. Carr—“ The next day it snowed.’’
