Tolson’s Busy Day.
He Passed a Forged Check on LaUue Brothers. Also. If George Tolson, the great but departed corn busker, had ever really done as lively work in cribbing corn as he did last Tuesday evening in cashing bogus checks, he would be a recordbreaker, sure enough. The agility with which he cashed one forged check two times that evening, and the cheerful 1 alacrity with which he paid back the cash, in both cases, when cornered has already been related in The Republican Now still another instance of his work in that same lino and on that same evening, has just come to light, And in this third case he not only got the cash but go away with it, as well. Just as Laßue Brothers of the Big Depaitment Store, were closiug up, Tuesday night, Tolson rushed in and made a small purchase or two, and tendered in payment.a check in his favor, for sl2 with Adam Nagel’s name attached. The check was accepted aud Tolson given the balance in cash. Nothing more was thought of the matter until Thursday afternoon, when the check with others was offered for deposit {ft McCpy’s bank, and was at once rejected as a forgery. Tolson, it appears, has left town, and is now thought to be in Lafayette. He ought to be caught aud sent to the pen.
