The ducks are beginning to make their appearance and likewise the banters. The wearirig of the green y-as much to be seen on St. Patrick’s Day. Wm. Dill, of Buffalo, White county, is visiting his uncle W. H. Cottingham and family. Miss Jennie Cottingham has returned home from Chicago. Miss Ella Cox .is visiting her grandparents at Knintan, Mrs. Fanny Cottingham has purchased the old J.'J. Fry property of ■James Chapman the real estate man At Rensselaer and intends building an addition to it before occupying, next moduli. Quarterly Conference will be held at the M. E. church Saturday even- .... evening and on Sunday evening Quartoly Meeting will be held at the same place. Elder Beck wTTT be present at both meetings A. Goodman, the Monon road master was in town Monday on business. Mr, and Mrs. Isaac Kight spent several days in Chicago this week with their daughter.. Mrs. Mike Shehan. .Miss Nettie Mallett has returned home from a two weeks visit to friends at Rensselaer a ul Foresman. Tiie—Misses Sylvia Winslow, Ethel Arnold arid Minnie Hooper, who united with the Christian church at this place during the last meetings, received the rites of. baptism in the Christian church at Rensselaer last Saturday by Bro. Brady. Mr. and Mr. Nick Dexter, of near Goodland, come here last Monday to visit friends and relatives, but were unexpectedly called to the bedside of Mr. Dexter’s father, near Rensselaer, who was taken suddsniy sick. On Thursday of last week the Ladies Aid Society of the M. E. church drove to the home of Mrs. Wm, Fuller, two miles east of town with well filled baskets and a sumptuous dinner was enjoyed. It was a complete surprise to Mrs. Fuller who is a member of the society. The afternoon^ was spent in sewing, conversation etc. ;• Waiter Wise man and finiiily, of Chicago Heights, were called 15y telegram last Monday to the bedside of Mr. Wiseman’s mother who was not expected to live.
