Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 21, Number 45, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 6 March 1900 — An Able Bodied Remonstrance. [ARTICLE]
An Able Bodied Remonstrance.
The remonstrance against the saloon in the Third ward, near the depot, was filed with the couty auditor last Friday, morning. It contains the names of 136 resident voters of .the ward. The total number of votes cast in the ward, at the last ward election, was 17fi. Thus to defeat the application only 88 legal signers would be required. Thus «it appears the remonstrance has names enough and 4? to spare. It is very (evident that the people of the th it'd ward do not want any saloons in their ward. And this is the more evident from the fact th; t none of the opposition in this case is against the applicant, personally.
